A law in Virginia has laid down a rule, wherein participating eateries can allow its patrons, the option of bringing in their own bottle of wine. This could have an effect on the profits of the restaurants, from the sale, of its alcoholic beverages and wine.
This is happening for the first time in Virginia. The law rules that the restaurant can levy a "corkage fee", for allowing its patron, to bring in their own bottle of wine. Further it would be up to the restaurant to fix the amount.
Most restaurants in Loudoun have intentions of charging between 15 dollars to 25 dollars for complying with the wine corkage stipulation.
According toVictoria Bressan, manager at Clyde's, at Willowcreek Farm, in Broadlands, such a law will not affect profits adversely. She says that not many people insist to bring their own bottle of wine. Moreover, they have quite a variety of wine and other alcoholic beverages on their menu, so the customer can make his choice accordingly..
